Deep Throat Returns:

The Neocon's Worst Nightmare: It's not what you think!

A lot of bad things can happen these days, and it's a scary world out there. But a chill wind must have passed through the neocon jungle when Ari Fleischer mentioned the possibilities associated with the untimely meeting of a bullet and Saddam's cranium.

Just the possibility that Saddam might accept an asylum and flee, or worse, pass away peacefully in the night, sends a ripple of fear through the hearts and ambitions of the friends of Perle. While the rest of the world would dance, with Arab and Persian neighbors linked arm in arm with Europeans and Russians and Africans and Indians and South Americans and most of North America from Alaska to Florida, the sad and lonely neocons will sit. Wallflowers they have not been, but in this dance they would be as miserable as a snubbed Valentino on Sadie Hawkins Day.

Why wouldn't the neocons be doing the boogie wild at this possible news, you may ask. Well, it's like this. Everything was coming together so nicely, leading up to the latest imperial implementation of the advisors to the White House. Just about any other bad thing that could happen in the near future can be used to justify their plans for a reshaped Middle East and greater Zion, EXCEPT for Saddam's death or departure before we are in Baghdad ready to set up another Loya Jirga for the new U.S. Iraqi state. His death or departure simply must wait until everything is ready!!

For example…a terrorist attack against U.S. interests would be fodder to steel the will of the fencesitters and the quiet the unpatriotic outbursts of the peaceniks. Even a destructive event in Europe would help fuel the unilateral argument, giving it more of a Paul Bunyan patina. Unrest and conflict in Palestine supports the program, and even the domestic recession, angering the heartland and helping make a really evil enemy and cheaper gas more attractive - especially if, as the neocons advocate, we can solve both problems at the same time.

What isn't needed is more time to discuss the $9 billion of U.S. taxpayer spare change a month the takeover and occupation of Iraq will cost. What isn't needed is more debate the merits of increasing the power of the U.S. executive office beyond the major increases that have already occurred in the past 30 years. What isn't needed is more time to trace the origins of the latest U.S. National Security Strategy, or its intellectual parent, the New American Century version published in 2000.

Yet - in the neocon's worst nightmare, these things all happen, and the quickest way to throw sand in the engine and unleash the hordes is with the premature demise of Saddam Hussein. Ari Fleischer, shame on you!!!!
